Track and Field Wraps up Multi-Meet Weekend; Wilke, Rush Make Moves in All-Time Top 10

Chippewas compete at GVSU Big Meet; Wilke and Newcombe race in Boston;
ALLENDALE, Mich. — Central Michigan Track and Field wrapped up the weekend on Saturday with a pair of all-time top 10 performances at the GVSU Big Meet and Boston University's David Hemery Invitational.
Chesney Wilke and Natalie Newcombe competed in Boston, where Wilke, a sophomore, ran the seventh fastest 800m in CMU indoor track and field history. She finished 80th of 211 competitors in a time of 2:12.74.
Newcombe ran the mile in 4:48.06 to finish 71st of 276 runners.
Kaitlynn Rush made strides for the Chippewas in Allendale, running a personal-best 7.58 in the 60m to place second of 64 sprinters. Her time advanced her to eighth all-time in the CMU history books.
Alongside Rush in the 60m were Sky Austin, who finished 10th, Mireya Benjamin, who finished 12th, and Dior Newson who was 20th. The three additionally competed in the 200m, where they finished 14th, 23rd and 24th, respectively.
Robyn Watts placed 6th of 56 competitors in the 400m with a time of 57.76.
In the 60 meter hurdles were Ciara Rosenzweig and Jada Pride, who finished 11th and 17th, respectively.
Freshman Lois Creasey won the 800m in a field of 61 total runners, finishing in 2:15.97. Quickly behind her were Olivia East, who ran a personal-best time, in third, Libby Munderloh in sixth, Amelia Gouin in ninth and freshman Lexi Hurst in 11th.
Sophomore Emma Janesak ran a personal-best 5:03.82 to finish eighth in the mile run. Emma Netzel finished 18th, Ambria Nagel 35th, Lauren Hasty 37th and Lauren MacDonald 51st.
Kate Jenkins, Miranda McNeil, Braydee Elling, Elle Himebaugh and Ava Teed closed out the day on the track in the 3000m, where Jenkins finished third of 75 runners. McNeil and Elling, both freshmen, finished 10th and 17th, respectively. Himebaugh finished 30th and Teed, also a freshman, finished 30th.
Freshmen Kendell Wilcox and Riley Kerr shared fifth place in the high jump out of 29 competitors with a height of 1.53m.
In the pole vault, freshmen Claire Adams and Alexandra Cinzori also shared fifth place, both achieving heights of 3.40m.
Rounding out the field events were long jumper Hailey Hill, who placed 27th, and Grace Hill, who was 42nd in weight throw.
With one of the largest weekends in the indoor track and field season now in the rearview, the Chippewas look onward to Michigan's Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor on Friday, Feb. 21 to wrap up regular competition. Eastern Michigan will host the 2025 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 14 and 15 in Ypsilanti.
