Martel logs third straight double-digit game in saves; Hinkle, Farrar each improve to three goals on the season
EUGENE, Ore. — Central Michigan Lacrosse fell, 14-3, in its first visit to the Pacific Northwest Saturday against Oregon.
Â
Senior goalie Alexa Martel (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Olympia) notched her third straight game with double-digit saves (10) after 15-plus against Marquette (Feb. 12) and No. 8 Michigan (Feb. 19). She also added a team-high four ground balls and a caused turnover.
Â
Senior Sadie Hinkle (Medina, Ohio / Medina) broke up the Ducks' early shutout bid with her first of two goals on the day just over two minutes into the second quarter. Her other score, a near-identical attempt, came midway through the third. Hinkle's scores were both earned through strong isolation drives from behind the net, scoring from outside the left post.
Â
Anna Farrar (Milton, Ga. / Cambridge) found her score later in the second on a crisp give-and-go in the heart of the Oregon defense from the right wing, aided by fellow sophomore Amelia Sarap (Granville, Ohio / Granville).
Â
The loss drew the series to a 1-1 tie as Central Michigan hosted the Ducks for a thrilling, 12-11 overtime victory in 2021. Saturday's contest was just the third to be played on the West Coast in the program's 10-year history.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse returns March 2 (Noon ET) to host Cincinnati at the CMU Lacrosse Complex.
