Tori Briggs hits a walk-off single to score the lone run in the game against Longwood.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Central Michigan leaves Louisville with three wins on the weekend, including a victory in the final game against Longwood, 1-0 in eight innings.
The record for CMU moves to 4-10 on the season, after collecting three wins at the Cardinal Classic. Two over the Lancers and the tournament opened with a victory over Northwestern.
Mackenzie Langan threw a complete game shutout in her outing where she collected seven strikeouts.
All three victories for CMU came from complete games for the starting pitcher.
Langan has thrown two shutout wins for CMU in the 2025 season, with her other being a six-inning run-rule victory over Tennessee State in the opening weekend.
Tori Briggs and Emma Lotus each recorded two hits in the game against Longwood and Allyssa Hollo also charted one.
Langan and the defense held the Lancers to just three hits on the afternoon.
Longwood threated in the top of the sixth inning when runners reached second and third, but a fly ball to centerfield from Langan ended the inning.
The winning run was scored in the bottom of the eighth when Emma Lotus, who started on second base due to international tiebreaker rules, scored on Briggs' second hit of the day – a single through the right side.
Next up, the Chippewas will travel to Madeira Beach, Fla. to participate in the Make it Happen Games. The tournament is slated to start with a game against Long Island at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7th.
