First Day of Softball Spring Break Ends in Split

Team 47 split in the games with LIU and Siena at the first day of the Make it Happen Games.
MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Central Michigan Chippewas opened the Make it Happen Games with a victory over LIU in five innings and then a loss to Siena in 10 innings on Friday afternoon.
In the first game, CMU won in dominant fashion, 10-0, their third run-rule victory of the season. The second game was a hard-fought battle in extra innings, were the Chippewas ultimately fell to the Saints, 6-7.
Allyssa Hollo was the offensive highlight in the first game against the Sharks. Hollo went 2-3, with two home runs that were no doubters. In her first at-bat, a three-run shot, and in her second, a solo round tripper.
CMU collected 12 hits as a team in the game, their sixth double-digit hit game of the 2025 season. Nine different Chippewas recorded hits in the game with multi-hit games from Carly Sleeman, Hollo, and London Williams.
In the outing, Kennedy Miller grabbed her first career hit with a pinch-hit single. Madison Wendel entered in the top of the fifth inning in relief for Langan. Langan faced the first 14 batters of the game, issuing just two hits. Wendel closed out the final three, grabbing two strikeouts.
The Chippewas did not record a single strikeout one time. The CMU pitchers struck out four Sharks.
In game two, CMU dropped a battle with the Saints, who they will meet again on Sunday morning.
The Chippewas took the 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after the team drew three walks in the first four batters, and Jenna Kuzara delivered a sacrifice fly for the run.
That was the only run of the game until the fifth inning when Siena scored in the bottom half with an infield single.
Starting in international tie breaker, Rachel Cairo scored for CMU in the eighth inning with an RBI single from Williams.
Siena answered in the bottom half of the inning with an infield fielder's choice where the runner at home dodged the tag.
CMU grabbed their third run of the day with a single to left center, scoring Maddie Springer, who pinch ran for Hollo.
Siena tied the game at three with an infield single in the eighth inning.
Tori Briggs had the big bat in the ninth when she sent her first career home run deep into the parking lot in left field, scoring two runs. CMU took the 6-3 lead at the end of the inning with an RBI single from Maddison Diekman.
The Saints loaded the bases in their half of the inning and capitalized to again, tie the game at six.
CMU was held scoreless in the top of the 10th, and Siena walked it off, scoring on a wild pitch.
Madelyn Wallace took the start for CMU in the circle, her fourth of the season. The senior threw for nine complete innings, striking out two, allowing eight hits.
Brooklyn Compau started the 10th inning for CMU, and walked two batters before being relieved by Cierra Laska, who ultimately finished the game in the circle for CMU.
On Saturday, Central Michigan will take on Chattanooga and Niagara at 1:30 pm and 4 pm, respectively.
