Strong Fifth Inning Propels Softball to Series Sweep Over Bowling Green

Team 47 scored all six of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win their second MAC series in sweep fashion.
The Chippewas scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win 6-4 over the Falcons as they stay in the second-place spot in the Mid-American Conference.
Ohio, who the Chippewas host next weekend stands in first place in the conference.
Bowling Green scored first with three runs in the top of the first inning with an RBI single and a triple off the right field wall.
The Flacons scored their final run in the third inning with another RBI single.
Madelyn Wallace took the start in the circle and threw one inning giving up the three runs. Cierra Laska entered in the second inning, throwing two before being relieved by Mackenzie Langan who collected her second win of the weekend against the Falcons.
Laska issued two hits and one run, but the Falcons were held scoreless for the rest of the game.
In the fifth inning, Carly Sleeman started the scoring when a sacrifice fly to left field scored Maddison Diekman, and Maddie Springer, who scored on the error by the left fielder.
Emma Lotus scored on an RBI single from London Williams, 3-0 CMU.
The fourth run for CMU was scored on a fielder's choice hit by Allyssa Hollo scored Ashley Bila, a wild pitch scored London Williams, and Cairo, who started the fifth inning, had an RBI single to score Jenna Kuzara who reached via walk.
The Chippewas will next head to South Bend, Ind. for a non-conference match up with the Notre Dame. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. (ET).
