Softball Splits on Senior Day with Ohio

Team 47 rebounded in a game two victory to earn a split on day one of the series.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – There was no quit in the Chippewas as they rebounded for a 7-2 victory in the second game of the series after dropping game one 2-4. The Chippewas move to 16-6 in MAC and 24-21 overall while Ohio moves to 15-5 in the MAC and 32-14 overall.
Central Michigan and Ohio will battle for the final game of the series on Sunday, April 27th at noon at Margo Jonker Stadium in a hunt for first place in the conference.
Game 1
Central Michigan started the game with two quick outs against the Bobcats, and stranded runners on second and third.
Ohio grabbed three runs in the top of the second inning with back-to-back singles up the middle from their number two and three hitters.
The Chippewas got on the board in the third inning when London Williams drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Maddison Diekman.
Keira Tolmie started the offense in the third with a first-pitch double off the right-center wall, and Diekman grabbed her third hit in three at-bats to advance Tolmie to third. Emma Lotus singled and loaded the bases.
Another run came across in the top of the sixth for the Bobcats with an error from the Chippewas third baseman, leading 4-1.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Chippewas responded with a single from Jenna Kuzara who came around to score with an RBI single from Tolmie, who charted her second hit of the game.
Bases were loaded again in the bottom of the sixth when Diekman reached on an infield single with two outs.
Allyssa Hollo charted the ninth hit of the game, and Ohio walked away with a 4-2 victory.
Game 2
A response, and a strong one, for Central Michigan came in game two against the Bobcats.
Mackenzie Langan threw her 10th complete game of her junior campaign, and the held the Bobcats scoreless until the top of the seventh when they grabbed their two runs.
CMU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when Maddison Diekman scored on an infield single from Jenna Kuzara.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Chippewas ignited for six runs, on six hits, and to reach their total of seven for the day.
The inning started with back-to-back free bases for Keira Tolmie and Grace Koenig, as Tolmie was hit by a pitch, and Koenig drew a walk. Cierra Laska entered as a pinch runner for Tolmie and scored from second when Rachel Cairo hit a single up the middle, 2-0 CMU.
Tori Briggs entered as a pinch hitter and reached on an infield single, Carly Sleeman singled, Allyssa Hollo singled, Jenna Kuzara singled, London Williams singled, with no outs in between, and CMU left the sixth inning with a 7-0 lead.
Ohio grabbed their two runs in the top of the seventh with an RBI double.
