"Jeffrey (Andrus) had a mishap on one hole, he played pretty well, just one bad hole. He fought through that and that was very early in his round," Head Coach Kevin Jennings said of Andrus' performance, "He fought through that and was rather resolute and resilient and allowed himself to keep it from getting too out of hand.
"We're going to try to tighten it up tomorrow and see if we can improve on what we did today."
Eastern Michigan holds first place as a team logging 285 and 276 in rounds one and two, respectively, for a total of 561. Kent State falls three strokes behind the Eagles for second place after a 288 over the first 18 and 276 in the second.
The Eagles' Rory McDonald-O'Brien moved up two spots to first place in the second round, after a 65 (-7) performance, and is 10-under par (134) heading into the final round. The Golden Flashes' Jordan Gilkison holds second at six under par, while Northern Illinois' Craig Long is tied for third with the Falcon's Evan Johnson for third at four under par.
The Chippewas will tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in the third round of the MAC Championship, the team's final round of the season.
"The main objective is of course to improve upon both rounds and allow us to be in a better mindset going into the fall and get ready to be much better."
