Jozy Allen collects 16 draws; Hinkle, DePrado post hat tricks; Chippewas take down MAC regular-season contender on the road
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Central Michigan Lacrosse collected its first regular-season win over Robert Morris in Walton Stadium Saturday, 11-10, in the program's first contest at the venue since winning the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championship.
Â
Senior Jozy Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio / Sycamore) tallied a program-record 16 draw controls, 10 in the first half—both of her controls in the fourth quarter led directly to goals to provide insurance ultimately needed by game's end.
Â
Sadie Hinkle (Medina, Ohio / Medina) and Skye DePrado (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) each came away with a hat trick, the first and fourth of the season, respectively.
Â
Hinkle scored twice in CMU's 5-1 run over a 17-minute window in the first half, finished off the trifecta in the final seconds of the third. Celia Dow (Penfield, N.Y. / Penfield) collected her pair of goals during the first-half run between the 10-minute and eight-minute marks of the first quarter.
Â
DePrado started her barrage under the three-minute mark in the first half via free position to reach the 6-3 halftime margin, doubled up the Colonials again, 8-4, in the third, then scored what became the game-winner to push the Chippewas up 11-7 with less than nine minutes to play.
Â
Dow assisted DePrado's winner, as well as Maggie Merrill's (Marriotsville, Md. / Marriotts Ridge) strike in the third quarter to lead the CMU attack with four points.
Â
Hanna Wenger (Loveland, Ohio / Loveland) marked the Chippewas' second goal of the season down a player early in the second quarter; Caye Kalbacher (Austin, Texas / Stephen F. Austin) notched the third goal of her rookie season to start the fourth quarter.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse remains in Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis Monday afternoon (2 p.m. ET) before it returns to the CMU Lacrosse Complex April 13 (Noon ET) to host Youngstown State for Senior Day.
