Rejment Charts 34th Double-Double as Volleyball as Falls in Five to Western Michigan

Natalia Rejment recorded 16 kills and 19 digs, while Cripe added 11 kills and 16 digs as Volleyball falls to in-state rivals, Western Michigan.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Central Michigan Volleyball dropped a five-set match to Western Michigan in Kalamzoo.
CMU won the second and fourth sets, 25-23 and 26-24, while dropping first, third and fifth, 23-25, 23-25 and 8-11. The Chippewas move to 3-11 overall and 0-2 in MAC play, while the Broncos advance to 4-11 and 2-0 in the MAC.
Set one was quite literally point for point – the score was tied nine times with no team holding a larger lead than two points until 18-17 in favor of the Broncos when CMU Head Coach Arielle Wilson called her first timeout.
Out of the timeout, Central Micfrhigan called their second timeout after trailing 18-21. CMU fought off three set points held by the Broncos, one of which was with an ace from junior setter Keelyn Muell. The first set went to Western Michigan, 25-23, despite the fight from the Chippewas.
The second set started as much of the same, trading points and two or three point runs back and forth. Central Michigan found themselves trailing 10-14 and a timeout was called by Coach Wilson. CMU responded after that timeout with a 4-0 run to tie the set, then take a 17-16 lead, capping off a 7-2 run.
The Chippewas forced a timeout from the Broncos, taking a late 23-20 lead in the set but WMU battled back to a 23-22 score, and the Chippewas regrouped in a timeout. The Chippewas took the 25-23 victory in the second set, evening the match score a 1-1.
Early into the third set, Natalia Rejment dug her 10th ball of the night and recorded the first double-double for the Chippewas in the 2025 season. Rejment finished with 16 kills and 19 digs. The stat line in the match records the 34th double-double for Rejment in her career at CMU.
CMU found themselves trailing 16-20 late in the third set, but after a regrouping, the Chippewas battled it back to tie the set at 22 all, but Western took the third set, 25-23.
In the fourth set, CMU led 10-7, but WMU tied the game at 12, and a timeout was called from the Maroon & Gold bench. CMU owned two set points at 24-22 over the Broncos, but the set was tied at 24 after two points from WM, but CMU took the 26-24 victory, forcing a fifth set for the second straight night.
The Chippewas posted a 3-0 scoring run early in the fifth set to take the 5-2 lead, and WMU answered with one of their own tying the set at 5.
WMU took a 10-6 lead over CMU, and the final timeout of the match was called by Coach Wilson.
Central Michigan ended up dropping the five-set match to the Broncos after a 8-15 loss in the fifth set.
CMU will next open their home slate on October 3rd against Toledo in McGuirk Arena at 6 p.m.
