Hunter (3-under) Leads Men's Golf on Opening Day at Marshall's Joe Feaganes Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Keith Hunter shot a 1-under par 70 and followed with a 2-under 69 for a 139 total on Monday to lead the Central Michigan men's golf team on opening day at the Joe Feaganes Invitational at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
The second-round 69 and the 139 36-hole total were both career bests for Hunter, a senior from New Hamburg, Ont.
Hunter is tied for 18th heading into Tuesday's final round, which carries an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Hunter's 139 ranks as the second-best 36-hole total in program history.
Hunter's opening round included four birdies and his second round included two birdies and an eagle.
The Chippewas opened the tournament with a 286 team score and then posted a second-round 284 for a 570 total, the best 36-hole team total in program history. They are in 13th place in the 15-team field, one shot behind Radford and Robert Morris, which are tied for 11th.
Also for the Chippewas on Monday, Jeffrey Andrus shot 70-72 for an even-par 141, freshman Hudson Vedder shot 72-74 for a 4-over 146, Philippe Yturralde shot 76-71 for a 5-over 147, and Jeffrey Sager shot 74-76 for an 8-over 150. CMU's Nicholas Kilgore, playing as an individual, shot 74-77 – 151.
Andrus is tied for 37th, Vedder is tied for 69th, Yturralde is tied for 73rd, Sager is tied for 85th, and Kilgore is tied for 88th. The field comprises 94 players.
Wes Lorish of host Marshall opened with a 6-under 65 and then posted a 5-under 66 for an 11-under 131 total and a one-shot lead over Trey Wall (66-66) of Murray State.
Eastern Kentucky posted a second-round 20-under 264 and leads the tournament with a 25-under 543. Murray State (280-271) is second, eight shots back (581).
