Chippewas Track & Field Logs It’s Sixth Top-10 Result of the Weekend to End GVSU Big Meet

Chippewas log three personal bests, add a top-10 result on a successful weekend
ALLENDALE, Mich. — Central Michigan Track & Field put a bow on a successful weekend at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet Saturday. In the second day of the meet Chippewa runners added a top-10 result, and three individual personal bests.
With an eighth-place finish, Maya Guikema, Eva Thompson, Jessie Gibbins, and Grace VanderKooi added the Chippewas sixth top-10 result of the weekend with an 11:50.25 4000m distance medley relay finish. It now ranks as the 10th best DMR finish in program history.
"I'm really proud of how everybody competed this weekend," Central Michigan Director of Track & Field Jenny Swieton said. "Performances like we had this weekend bodes well going into the MAC Championships in a couple of weeks."
Linnearia Richards came away with a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles in a 8.70 second finish. Fellow sprinter Sophia Garland took second place in the 60m dash with a 7.64 second performance.
Kate Jenkins led the distance team with a personal best of 9:56.92 in the 3000m for a third place finish. Ava Teed took 14th in the event with a 10:28.4 finish.
Danica Shamion took third in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 25.15 seconds, a personal best. Andrea Merrin logged a 25.29 second showing, good for sixth place.
Robyn Watts logged sixth place with a personal best 57.55 in the 400m, just beating out Libby Munderloh who finished seventh in 57.89 seconds.
Hailey Hill was the lone Chippewa field representative; she took 19th place in the long jump with a 4.83 best.
Central Michigan Track and Field returns next Friday, Feb. 20 for the University of Michigan's Silverston Invitational before hosting the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.
