Chippewas Sweep MAC Gymnastics Weekly Awards for the Second Time this Season

Alvarado-Reid earns MAC Gymnast of the Week and Kmieciak claims MAC Specialist of the Week honors.
CLEVELAND — Senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid and graduate student Lia Kmieciak have swept the Mid-American Conference's weekly honors for the second time this season.
Alvarado-Reid has earned her fourth MAC Gymnast of the Week honor this season, the league announced on Tuesday. The senior from Cartago, Costa Rica, was key to the Chippewas' win over Northern Illinois on Friday, claiming the highest MAC all-around score of the week at 39.500.
She took home the title for beam (9.925) and vault (9.825)—her ninth career beam title and fourth career vault title. She also achieved a 9.925 on bars and a 9.825 on floor. Her 39.500 all-around score was her highest all-around of the season and second-highest career all-around score.
Alvarado-Reid is currently ranked first in the MAC on floor, bars and all-around and sits nationally 25th on bars and 26th in the all-around.
Kmieciak received her third MAC Specialist of the Week honor. She went two-for-two in Central Michigan's dual meet victory against Northern Illinois. The graduate student tied her career best on bars for the title with a 9.950 and achieved a 9.825 tie for the vault title.
These scores mark her 9th career victory on bars and 12th on vault. Kmieciak is a key factor in Central Michigan's No. 18 national bars ranking and is currently ranked second in the MAC on vault.
Central Michigan is scheduled to compete in Iowa quad meet with Northern Illinois and SEMO on March 6 (7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT).
