Chippewa Track & Field Sets Six All-Time Results at Wake Forest Invitational and Gina Relays

Four runners, two field athletes earn all-time results
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Track & Field rounded out the Wake Forest Invitational and continued competition at Hillsdale College for the Gina Relays Friday afternoon.
Four Chippewa runners and two field athletes earned all-time results, 11 set personal bests on the day.

Maya Guikema kicked off the record book updates with her second top-10 performance in as many days at Wake Forest. She took the line in the 1500m, where she crossed the finish line at 4:27.72 for the fourth best result in program history. Eva Thompson joined Guikema in the 1500m and set a personal best 4:32.63.
Victoria Merrick and Emily McLean broke into the Chippewas' top-10 list in the discus throw and shot put, respectively, at the Gina Relays. Merrick recorded a 49.81m throw, good for third best all time, while McLean set a career best 14.47m put, good for sixth best all time.
Ereka Risner and Merrick joined McLean in the shot put. McLean took sixth overall, while Risner logged a 13.35m attempt for sixth, and Merrick took seventh at 12.17m.
Linnearia Richards logged a 13.77, placing second in the 100m hurdles finals at Hillsdale, the time is good for fifth in program history. Richards additionally competed in the long jump, where she recorded a 6.06m attempt for second place, just .01m behind first place.
Hailey Hill just missed the finals in the long jump, recording a 5.41m personal best on her final attempt for ninth overall.
Sophia Garland rocketed up to second place on the 100m dash list, with an 11.70 second outing to earn fourth place. Garland initially posted an 11.73 second run in the preliminaries at the Gina Relays. Andrea Merin and Mireya Benjamin joined Garland, Merin logged 12.45 seconds and Benjamin had a 12.30 second showing.
The Gina Relays 400m featured Danica Shamion, Robyn Watts, and Ella Sweatt. Shamion set a personal best of 55.03 seconds good as the 10th best performance in program history. Sweatt logged 56.11 seconds in her first collegiate 100m, and Watts crossed the line in 57.51 seconds.
Kyah Hoffman rounded out the Chippewas time at the Wake Forest Invitational in the Invitational 5000m, she recorded a 16:45.50 personal best, good for 10th place.
The day ended at the Gina Relays with the 1500m where Emma Janesak, Mara Szuper and Miranda McNeil took the line. Janesak took a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:36.44; Szuper and McNeil each posted personal bests with Szuper logging 4:46.66 and McNeil recorded 4:49.06 earning 10th and 12th place respectively.
Central Michigan Track & Field will begin the final day of competition at the Gina Relays Saturday at noon.
