OXFORD, Ohio – Central Michigan won the battle of the hits, but could not make them count on Sunday in fall to Miami (Ohio), 5-2, in the finale of a three-game Mid-American Conference baseball series at the RedHawks' Hayden Park.
The Chippewas dropped all three games of the series and are 18-23, 9-15 MAC. They go to Notre Dame on Tuesday for a nonconference game and then entertain Grace Christian on Wednesday at Theunissen Stadium.

Spencer Verburg singled, doubled and tripled to lead CMU at the plate, while Cole Prout, Drew Loikits, Logan Keilen and Cole Prout had two hits apiece.
Clayton Burke, who held the Chippewas scoreless over 3 2/3 innings in relief, earned the win. Clayton Burk, who came on to get a strikeout to end CMU's eighth-inning threat, picked up the save.
