Softball Drops Home Finale to Miami (OH)

Team 48 concludes regular season on Sunday afternoon.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Softball dropped its season finale 8-0 to Miami (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon at Margo Jonker Stadium.
The loss drops CMU to 23-20 on the year and 14-9 in the Mid-American Conference, while the RedHawks move to 35-15 and and 16-8 in the MAC.
Miami (OH) took a two-run lead in the first inning on a two-run home run. A three-run home run in the second gave the RedHawks a 5-0 lead. The sixth run came in the third on an RBI double and another two were scored in the fourth on another RBI double.
Senior Mackenzie Langan started on in the circle for CMU, her final home game at Margo Jonker Stadium. Langan was relieved by Brooklyn Compau in the second inning. Aubrey Strelow then entered in the fourth inning. In her 1.2 innings pitched, Langan issued six hits with three strikeouts. Compau struck out two in her 1.1 innings.
In a pre-game ceremony, Central Michigan celebrated its four graduating seniors. Cierra Laska, Angela Petrovitch, Paige Sayler, and Mackenzie Langan each played their final home game at CMU. All four seniors made an appearance in the game with Laska, Petrovitch and Langan earning starts, and Sayler with a pinch hit appearance in the fifth inning.
Next up for the Chippewas is a three-game series at conference-leading Akron in the season's final regular season series.
