Billig logged seven saves, Rulli recorded four shots

KENT, Ohio – Central Michigan Field Hockey opened Mid-American Conference play at Kent State Friday afternoon. The Chippewas fell in a defensive battle 0-1 to the Golden Flashes.

Kent State struck early, in the fifth minute of the first quarter and held the one-goal lead throughout.

Junior goalkeeper Jenna Billig saw eight on target shots and collected seven saves.

Sophomore Mora Rulli, who earned MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week last week, led the Chippewas offensive push with four shots. Fellow sophomore Teah Savignano and junior Carolena Ryon aided the effort with three of their own.

The Chippewas recorded a total of 13 shots.

Central Michigan Field Hockey will return to the pitch at home to host Michigan, Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. for Little Sisters Day.
