Field Hockey Falls To Iowa

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University field hockey team was shutout by the University of Iowa, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
The loss drops CMU's record to 8-6 overall.
It was all Iowa in the first half as the Hawkeyes put up three goals in a span of a few minutes. Natalie Dawson got Iowa on the scoreboard with a goal with 26:00 minutes left in the opening half while Tiffany Fodera scored with 24:15 left and Gina Carr with 23:55.
The Hawkeye defense kept the Chippewas off the scoreboard in the second half while the Iowa offense tallied three more scores. Susan Gibson scored with 34:00 minutes left in the game while Carr completed her hat trick with goals at the 11:35 and 2:53 mark.
The Chippewas had just three shots on goal while Iowa had 14. CMU goalie Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/So.) made seven saves and Kerri Krasnow (Eliot, ME/Fr.) played the final 11 minutes of the game.
CMU hosts Ohio on Friday at 3 p.m., and Kent State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
