Field Hockey Falls To Ohio

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Ohio University on Friday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
The loss drops CMU's record to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-American Conference while Ohio improves to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the MAC.
Ohio got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Amanda Eaby with 19:40 left in the opening half. Neither team scored the rest of the half and the Bobcats went into the intermission with a 1-0 advantage.
The Bobcats extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Andrea Voros at the 19:31 mark of the second half.
The Chippewas closed the gap to 2-1 when Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, NY/Jr.) scored her 15th goal of the year with 4:44 left in the game. Lazarevski's 15 goals is good for a tie for second place on CMU's season while her 33 points leaves her tied for third.
Ohio secured the win with a goal by Kristen Auge with 3:36 to play.
CMU had just three shots on goal while the Bobcats had 15. Central goalie Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/So.) made 13 saves on the afternoon while Ohio's Tara Elliot made one save.
CMU closes the home season against Kent State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
