Women's Basketball Falls To UWM

MILWAUKEE, Wis.--Strong shooting and a big halftime lead helped the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 90-48 win over Central Michigan's women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon at the Klotsche Center.
The loss drops the Chippewas' record to 2-6 on the year while Wisconsin-Milwaukee improves to 3-4.
The Panthers shot .670 (19-28) in the first half en route to a 48-19 halftime advantage. Central was held to just a .257 (9-35) shooting mark.
The Chippewas scored the first basket of the game, a jumper by Beth Kindel but UWM then reeled off 12 unanswered points to take a 12-2 lead with 14:30 to go in the opening half.
Central closed the gap to 17-9 with 10:49 to go in the half but the Panthers went on a 10-0 run to take a commanding 27-9 lead at the 7:05 mark.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee kept up its strong play in the second half building its lead to as 37 points before scoring the final six points of the game to win by 42.
The Panthers shot .583 (35-60) for the game while CMU shot .286 (16-56).
The Chippewas were led by Kindel who scored 15 points and Desiree Eidson who scored 10.
Maria Viall scored a game-high 25 points to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee while Jessica Wilhite added 19 points.
The Chippewas return to action on Dec. 20 when they travel to Michigan State.
