Kent Defeats Women's Basketball

KENT, OH--The Central Michigan University women's basketball team (8-14, 5-6 Mid-American Conference) dropped a 94-55 decision to Kent State University (17-5, 10-1 Mid-American Conference) on Thursday night at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes took control from the opening tip, building a 26-10 lead in the first half. The Chippewas cut the lead to eight points (31-23) with 6:04 to go in the half but Kent outscored CMU 15-6 in the final minutes of the half to go into the break with a 45-29 advantage.
Kent kept the pressure on in the second half, building its lead to as many as 42 points. CMU got as close as 17 points early in the half but could get no closer.
The Golden Flashes shot a blistering .649 (37-57) while the Chippewas shot .420 (21-50). Kent also outrebounded CMU, 32-21.
Sophomore Alicia Rozak led the Chippewas with 14 points while sophomore Molli Munz added 12.
The Chippewas play at Akron on Saturday, Feb. 12.
