Gymnastics Beats Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI--The Central Michigan University gymnastics team (9-5 overall, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) picked up a road win at Eastern Michigan University on Saturday to remain undefeated in Mid-American Conference action.
The Chippewas downed the Eagles, 193.375-191.250.
CMU has now posted wins over Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Kent and EMU with Ball State and Western Michigan still on the schedule.
Two Chippewas tied for the all-around honors with Bethany Couturier (Grand Rapids/So.) and Tammy Verrinder (London, Ont./Fr.) tying with marks of 38.900. Nicole Liphardt (Ajax, Ont.) also competed in the all-around and earned a score of 38.825.
Liphardt won the bars with a 9.750 and Verrinder won the beam with a score of 9.800. As a team the Chippewas won the first three events and Eastern won the floor exercise.
EMU's Natalie Hashimoto took top honors on the vault with a 9.875 and Eagle Sarah Wasilenko had the high mark on the floor with a 9.825.
Couturier was second on the vault with a 9.725 and Verrinder was third with a 9.675. Couturier and Verrinder tied for second on the bars with 9.700s. Nicole Bills (Bay City/Sr.) placed second on the beam with a 9.775 and Couturier tied for third (9.725). Liphardt had CMU's best mark on the floor with a 9.775 which tied for third.
Next up for the Chippewas is a home date against Ball State on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
