Field Hockey Extends Winning Streak To Four

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University field hockey team kept its winning streak alive with a 3-2 win over Miami on Saturday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
The win, the Chippewas' fourth straight, improves their record to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
CMU got on the board first with a goal from Katrina Woznek (Amherst, NY/Jr.) with 29:15 left in the first half.
The RedHawks tied the game up at 1-1 when Katie Palisoul scored with 26:35 left in the opening stanza.
The Chippewas took the lead minutes later when Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, NY/Jr.) scored to make it 2-1 with 22:14 left in the first. The goal extended Lazarevski's scoring streak to five games.
Miami answered with 24:45 left in the game when Angela Snedden scored to knot the score at 2-2.
Meg Lewis (Pittsford, NY/So.) scored with 9:31 to play to put CMU back on top by a 3-2 margin. The Chippewa defense kept the RedHawks off the scoreboard for the final minutes to seal the victory.
CMU goalie Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/So.) made seven saves to help the Chippewas to the victory.
CMU hits the road next weekend when it faces Ohio on Friday and Michigan on Saturday.
