Field Hockey Falls To Michigan, 4-0

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University field hockey team (7-8, 4-4 Mid-American Conference) was defeated by the No. 4-ranked Wolverines, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Michigan jumped out to an early lead in the first half after Kristi Gannon scored with 31:22 remaining. The Chippewas settled down to hold the Wolverines without a goal until 3:11 remained in the first half. Jessica Rose buried the ball in the back of the net to double their lead. Michigan added two more goals with under 10 minutes left in the game to round out the scoring.
Chippewas goalkeeper Janel Spero (Shoreham, N.Y./Jr.) made eight saves on 12 Michigan shots and allowed three goals.
The Chippewas return to action Thursday, Oct. 25, when MAC foe Kent State comes to Kelly/Shorts Stadium at 2 p.m.
