Women's Basketball Falls To Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI--Despite holding a lead late in the game, Central Michigan fell to Eastern Michigan by a 73-61 count on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
Eastern Michigan led by as many as 16 points in the second half before the Chippewas went on a 12-3 run to cut the lead to 44-39 with 11:28 to play.
After trading baskets, CMU scored eight unanswered points to take a 51-50 lead on a bucket by Alicia Rozak with 6:37 to play.
The squads swapped leads before the Eagles took back the lead for good on a three-pointer by Dru Bishop at the 5:43 mark. The bucket started a 9-0 run by EMU that gave it a 62-53 lead with 2:53 to go.
CMU got as close as seven points late in the game but the Eagles nailed six free throws in the last 37 seconds of action to secure the win.
Eastern Michigan had control of the opening half, leading the entire 20 minutes of action.
The Eagles scored the last five points of the half to take a 33-22 lead into the halftime break.
Molli Munz led the Chippewas with 18 points. She shot 6-of-12 from behind the three-point line.
Beth Kindel scored 12 and Rozak added 11 for Central.
Eastern Michigan was led by Bishop who scored a game-high 19 points.
Stephanie Smiley added 17 points, Kristy Maska 11 and Shani Charles 10.
The Chippewas (3-20 overall, 0-12 Mid-American Conference) travels to Toledo on Saturday.
