YPSILANTI - The Central Michigan wrestling team (6-4, 2-0 Mid- American Conference) remained undefeated in the MAC with a victory over Eastern Michigan on Sunday, 45-6.
The dual began at 184 pounds where Russ Vanderheyden (Rockton, Ill/Fr.) pinned his opponent in 1:32. CMU used the momentum from Vanderheyden's pin to win the first five matches of the dual. CMU scored wins by Bill Stouffer (Lowell/Fr.) at 197 pounds, Jack Leffler (Morris, Ill./Sr.) at heavyweight, Jason Borrelli (Mount Pleasant/Fr.)at 125 pounds and Jordan Webster (Washington, Ill./Jr.) at 133 pounds before Eastern could get on the board. The Eagles won at 141 pounds when CMU was disqualified in the match, making the overall score, 25-6.
CMU finished the dual with three technical falls and a forfeit. Winning by technical fall was Ty Morgan (Huber Heights/So.) at 149 pounds, David Bolyard (Akron, Ohio/Fr.) at 157 pounds and Tony Gansen (Belle Plaine, Minn./Sr.) at 174 pounds. Winning by forfeit was Joe Ray Barry (Mason/So.) at 165 pounds.
The Chippewas return to action Friday, Feb. 1, when they host Northern Illinois, the only other undefeated team in the MAC. The dual is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
