Mount Pleasant - The 17th-ranked Central Michigan University field hockey team (12-5, 5-2 Mid-American Conference) had its five-game winning streak snapped this afternoon by No. 9 Louisville, 1-0.
The Chippewas dominated play for much of the first half, outshooting the Cardinals 9-2, but went into the break with a 1-0 defecit.
The Cardinal goal came with only 41 seconds remaining in the first half.
The second half found CMU with numerous scoring chances, but much like the first half, the Chippewas came away with no goals.
Louisville goaltender Christy Hershey continually denied the Chippewas. She stopped all nine shots CMU put on net.
With the loss the Chippewas fall into a tie for first place with Louisville. The Cardinals hold the tie-breaker, having beaten CMU twice this season.
The Chippewas return to action Sunday, October 27, when Miami pays a visit to Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Game time is set for noon.
