Field Hockey Drops First MAC Contest

Louisville, Kentucky - The Central Michigan University field hockey team (7-4, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) stumbled against No. 9-ranked (National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll) Louisville on Friday afternoon. The Chippewas were defeated, 3-1.
The Cardials jumped on top early with a goal by Olivia Netzer less than five minutes into the game. Louisville added two more goals in the second half to put it out of reach.
Maria Neiswender (Hummelstown, Pa./Sr.) added a goal with less than five minutes remaining to get CMU on the board. The goal came on a penalty corner with Allison Foland (Springfield, Va./Jr.) and Jocelyn Gates (Lake Villa, Ill./Sr.) getting the assists.
The Chippewas were outshot, 14-6, by the Cardinals.
CMU goalkeeper Janel Spero (Shoreham, N.Y./Sr.) made 8 saves and allowed three goals in the loss.
The Chippewas return to action on Saturday, October 5, when face-off with MAC foe Miami, in Oxford, Ohio, at 1 p.m.
