Wrestling Defeats Buffalo, 28-9

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Central Michigan wrestling team (8-4, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) extended its winning streak to four matches as it defeated Buffalo on Saturday afternoon, 28-9.
CMU jumped out to a 10-0 lead with wins by Jason Mester (Mineral Point, Wis./So.) at 141, Ty Morgan (Huber Heights, Ohio/So.) at 149 and David Bolyard (Akron, Ohio/Fr.) at 157. Buffalo got on the board with a win at 165 pounds, but CMU increased its lead to 12 points with a win at 174 pounds by Tony Gansen (Belle Plaine, Minn./Sr.).
Buffalo picked up decisions at 184 and 197 to close the CMU lead to six but that was as close as it would get with CMU winning the final three matches. Picking up wins for CMU were Jack Leffler (Morris, Ill./Sr.) at heavyweight, Jason Borrelli (Mount Pleasant/Fr.) at 125 and Jordan Webster (Washington, Ill./Jr.) at 133.
CMU returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 10, when it travels to Edinboro, Penn. to battle the Fight Scots. The dual is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
