CMU Begins Season At MSU Open

EAST LANSING - The Central Michigan University wrestling team opened its season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Michigan State Open and had 15 wrestlers advance to the second day of competition.
The second day of competition will be tomorrow, Nov. 9, with the semifinals beginning at 10 a.m., and the finals beginning at 1 p.m. All wrestlers who advance to the second day of competition have placed in the top eight of their weight class.
Advancing to the championship semifinals were: Kyle Stoffer (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/So.) at 125; Jordan Webster (Washington, Ill./Sr.) at 133; Jason Mester (Mineral Point, Wis./Sr.) at 141; Ty Morgan (Huber Heights, Ohio/Sr.) at 157; David Bolyard (Akron, Ohio/Jr.) at 165 and unattached; and Bill Stouffer (Lowell/Jr.) at heavyweight.
Advancing to the consolation semifinals were: Jason Borrelli (Mount Pleasant/Jr.) wrestling unattached at 133, Brandon Carter (Swartz Creek/Fr.) wrestling unattached at 141; Nate Edwards (Port Huron/So.) at 165; Brad Anderson (Grand Rapids/Jr.) at 165; Kevin Carr (Warsaw, Ind./Sr.) at 174; Wynn Michalak (Caro/Fr.) wrestling unattached at 184; Matt McCartney (Roseville/So.) at 184; Joe Yager (Fulton/Sr.) at 197; and Alex Lammers (Huber Heights, Ohio/Jr.) at 197.
