Women's Basketball Drops Close Game To Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Central Michigan University women's basketball team blew an eight-point first-half lead and fell to Wright State by one point, 62-61, on Saturday afternoon.
After the Chippewas tied the game at 61 with an Erin Kuhl three-pointer, the Raider's Kendra Agee hit a free throw with :22 left in the game to put Wright State up for good. CMU missed a layup and had an inbound pass swatted away in the final seconds to seal its fate.
Freshman Sharonda Hurd had her first-career double-double. She tallied a career-high 12 points, all in the second half, and a game-high 10 rebounds in the losing effort. Seven of her rebounds were on the offensive end.
The Chippewas controlled play in the first half, taking as much as an eight-point lead with 3:00 remaining. The Raiders cut the deficit to two going into the break, 25-23.
WSU shot 50 percent in the second half and outscored CMU 39-36 to grab the one-point victory. Iesha Gray poured in 22 points in the second half en route to her game-high 26 for the Raiders.
Lindsey Mecoli notched 11 points and Kuhl scored 10 while hitting both of her attempts from behind the three-point line.
The Chippewas return to action on Tuesday, December 16, when they host Detroit Mercy in Rose Arena at 7 p.m.
