Men's And Women's Track Compete At Indiana Triangular

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Central Michigan University men's and women's track teams got back to competition on Saturday afternoon at the Indiana Triangular after last week's meet was cancelled.
The men took second place in the three team meet. They fell just two points shy of Indiana's 157 points. Indiana State finished third with 90 points.
The women's squad finished in third place with 107 points. Indiana took the top spot (175 points) followed by Indiana State (119).
There were many strong individual performances turned in by the men's team. Four athletes finished in the top two in two different events. Mike Sidlauskas led the way by taking first in the hammer throw (57.08m) and second in the discus (52.18m). His marks were good enough to qualify him for the NCAA regional meet in both events.
Soji Jibowu took the top spot in the 400m with a regional-qualifying time of 47.34 and finished second in the 200m (21.22). Clive Roberts finished in first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.45 and second in the 100m (10.57) Steve Wolf grabbed the top spot in the high jump with a regional qualifying mark of 2.07m and took second in the long jump (7.16).
Other athletes earning regional qualifying times were: Ian Searcy taking first in the 800m (1:50.38); Pat Walderzak taking first in the shot put (17.17m); and Tristen Perlberg taking second in the 5000m (14:22.20).
The women's team had a strong showing in the field events with five top three finishes.Amanda Storck claimed the top spot in the pole vault with a regional-qualifying mark of 3.66m. Jackie Smart scored a second-place finish in the triple jump (12.32m).
Jackie Bozin took second in the high jump with a qualifying mark of 1.74m. She also finished third in the long jump (3.85m).
Katie Davis and Natasha Reynolds also scored regional-qualifying marks in field events. Davis took third in the shot put (14.01) and Reynolds took second in the javelin (41.70).
Brook Creed scored big for the Chippewas in a track event, taking first in the 1500m (4:38.48).
The Chippewa women return to action this Saturday, April 19, when they travel to Western Michigan University. The men's squad has next weekend off.
