Eagles Cruise Past Women's Basketball, 87-50

YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan's potent offense was too much as the Central Michigan University women's basketball team fell to the Eagles in a Mid-American Conference matchup this evening, 87-50.
EMU (9-3, 2-0 MAC) connected on .577 (31-for-58) of its shots and hit on .600 (9-for-15) of its three-point attempts as the Eagles raced past the Chippewas (4-9, 0-2 MAC) for the 37-point win.
Four Eagles scored in double digits, led by Ryan Coleman who poured in a game-high 27 points. Nikki Knapp added 16 points and Sarah Vanmetre came off the bench to tally a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Chippewas, who shot .357 (20-for-56) from the field were paced by Lindsay Mecoli. The 6-1 forward had 12 points, with nine of her points comming in the second half.
The Eagles were tough on the boards as well, nabbing 46 caroms to CMU's 26. Casey Manning's six boards led all Chippewa rebounders.
MAC play continues for the Chippewa when they return home on Wednesday, Jan. 14. CMU hosts fellow West Division rival Northern Illinois with tipoff in Rose Arena set for 7 p.m.
