BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Falcons handed Central Michigan University its sixth-straight loss with a 3-0 victory over the Chippewas on Thursday night in Anderson Arena.
Game scores were 32-30, 30-27 and 30-22.
CMU (4-14, 1-7 MAC) has now lost 18 straight games. Bowling Green (12-7, 5-2 MAC) improved to 4-0 in home matches.
The Falcons are ranked 14th in the Mideast Region according to this week's RichKern.com rankings.
The first two games were highly competitive with the Falcons eking out the game one victory after the teams were tied at 27, 28, 29 and 30 before reigning Mid-American Conference West Division "Player of the Week" Taylor Twite pounded out back-to-back kills to give BGSU the opener.
Game two was tied at 26 but the Falcons outscored the Chippewas 4-1 after that with CMU's lone point coming on a BGSU attack error.
Bowling Green started game three on a 4-0 spurt and never gave up the lead, cruising to the eight-point victory.
The Chippewas were once again led by senior Emily Lovejoy who recorded team highs of 13 kills and 13 digs. She picked up her 1,000 career dig in the match to become the only CMU player to ever record 1,500 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She hit .333 with only two hitting errors in 33 attempts.
Meghan Moore added 10 kills, a block solo and three block assists for 12.5 points and Melanie Klein posted 10.5 points on nine kills and three block assists. Kristen Buter had nine kills and a block assist.
The Falcons hit .275 for the match with consistent games of .275, .279 and .273. CMU compiled a .205 hitting percentage on the night, including a .298 mark in game two. BGSU held a 10-7 edge in blocks.
Twite led the Falcons with 15 kills and a pair of block assists while Stephanie Swiger added nine kills and three total blocks and Emily Manser nine kills and 11 digs.
Jaimeson Whitman handed out 31 assists but committed six ball handling errors after replacing starting setter Courtney Kersten who dished out five assists. Libero Ali McCrite added 10 digs.
The Chippewas are at Buffalo on Friday for a MAC showdown before stepping out of league play for a Sunday afternoon match at IPFW.
