OXFORD, Ohio - Alisa Folk got the Central Michigan University field hockey team back on track as her hat trick led CMU to a 3-0 road victory over Miami.
The Chippewas are now 6-7 on the season, 3-4 in the Mid-American Conference. Miami falls to 5-10 overall and 0-7 in the MAC. CMU finishes its seven-match road trip 3-4.
Folk, who entered the match with only one goal this season, scored her first goal in the 18th minute when she took a pass from Allyson Doan and scored from five yards out. The scored remained that way until the 50th minute when Folk and Doan hooked up again to make the score 2-0.
Folk's final goal came 10 minutes later off a penalty corner. The forward took a pass from Kristy Reed, who was at the point, and blasted a shot past Miami's goalkeeper, Kerri Orr.
CMU's keeper Danielle Frank made three saves to earn the shutout. It was also a solid effort by CMU's defense, as it did not allow a shot or penalty corner in the second half.
CMU outshot the RedHawks, 14-5, with both squads earning four penalty corners.
The Chippewas play at home for the first time this season as they host Indiana on Friday, the first match at CMU's new facility. The match is set for 3 p.m.
