Field Hockey Tallies 2-1 Victory Over Ohio

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University field hockey team picked up a critical conference victory over Ohio at home on Friday afternoon, 2-1.
The Chippewas improved to 8-9 and remain third in the Mid-American Conference with a 5-4 record. The Bobcats falls to 5-14, 3-6 in the conference. The Chippewas play their final regular season match tomorrow at home against Kent State at noon. CMU's five seniors will be honored before the match.
CMU got on the board first with a goal in the 18th minute by Kristy Reed. Reed blasted a shot past Ohio keeper Jen Cote after a shot from Erica Takach bounced off the keeper and onto Reed's stick.
The Chippewas second goal came in a similar fashion to the first. Erin Dottery knocked a rebound past the OU keeper in the 39th minute with Takach notching her second assist. Ohio's goal came with four minutes to go off a penalty corner by Kristen Hann with Erica Bundalo earning the assist.
CMU goalkeeper Danielle Frank made five saves in the victory with Ohio keeper Jen Cote making 10 saves.
CMU out shot Ohio, 15-6, and won the penalty corner battle, 9-4.
