ATHENS, Ohio - A late goal by Alisa Folk led the Central Michigan University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory at Ohio on Friday afternoon.
The Chippewas are now 5-5 overall, 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference. The team travels to Kent State tomorrow for a match with the defending MAC regular season champions at 1 p.m.
The Chippewas wasted little time taking the lead with Kristy Reed scoring her second goal of the season in the fourth minute. Reed took a crossing pass from Kim Ferris, then chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.
The Bobcats tied the match in the 17th minute with a goal from Kristen Hann. It remained tied until Folk put back a rebound with 8:50 left on the clock for the match-winning goal.
Danielle Frank returned to CMU's starting line-up and made 13 saves to earn the victory. Ohio keeper Jennifer Cote made nine saves in the loss.
The match was an offensive affair with Ohio out shooting CMU, 19-16, and earning more penalty corners, 10-6.
