Wrestling Wraps Up Day One at the MSU Open

EAST LANSING - The Central Michigan University wrestling team Saturday set itself up for another successful performance at the Michigan State Open.
The Chippewas have 16 wrestlers still alive in the tournament and advancing to the second day. Each wrestler that advances to Sunday is guaranteed a top eighth finish in their weight class.
CMU has 11 wrestlers in the championship semifinals. They are Luke Smith (125), Kyle Stoffer (133), Brandon Carter (141), Eric Neil (157), Mitch Hancock (174), Brandon Sinnott (174), Russ Vanderheyden (184), Christian Sinnott (184), Wynn Michalak (197), Bill Stouffer (285) and Bubba Gritter (285).
Also still alive in the consolation bracket are Matt Steintrager (125), Mark Disalvo (149), Andy Keller (157), Louis Socier (174) and Alex Lammers (197).
Sunday's first session which include the championship semifinals and begin at 10 a.m. The finals at set to begin at 1 p.m.
