Pair of Wrestlers Win Titles At Northern Iowa Open

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - A pair of Central Michigan University wrestlers won titles at the Northern Iowa Open on Sunday afternoon.
The two wrestlers who won titles were Mark Disalvo at 149 pounds and second-ranked David Bolyard at 165. The Chippewas had 13 wrestlers place in the tournament.
Disalvo tallied a 3-2 victory over Jeff Harrison of Northern Iowa in his finals match while Bolyard topped Garrett South of Lutheran College, 4-3. CMU also had two other wrestlers finish second: Luke Smith at 125 and Russ Vanderheyden at 184.
Taking third in the tournament were: Mitch Hancock at 174; Christian Sinnott at 184; and Alex Lammers at 184. Heavyweights Bill Stouffer and Bubba Gritter were set to meet in the third-place match but both decided to share third.
Jason Borrelli saw his first action of the season and notched a fourth place finish at 133. Eric Neil was fifth at 157 and Wynn Michalak took sixth at 197. Matt Steintrager finish sixth while wrestled unattached at 125.
The Chippewas open their dual season next week at Michigan State on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The first match is set to start at 7 p.m.
