CMU Women Fall to Bowling Green, 69-51

MOUNT PLEASANT -Central Michigan University women's basketball team dropped its 12th straight game here Saturday afternoon to Bowling Green State University, 69-51, in Mid-American Conference play.
CMU led by as many as seven points three times early in the game, the last at 15-8 with 11:58 to play, before the Falcons took control and rolled to a 28-22 halftime advantage.
BGSU dominated the start of the second half, as well, and cruised to the win.
The Chippewas are 4-18 for the season and 0-11 in MAC while the Falcons are now 15-7 overall and 8-3 in the league.
Poor shooting from the floor doomed CMU as it meshed just 19-of-57 for 33 percent. BGSU connected on 27-of-58 for 46.6 percent.
The Falcons held a 36-35 edge in rebounding and committed 13 turnovers to 17 for the Chippewas.
CMU had just one player score in twin figures. Junior Lindy Hatfield posted 12 points while Erin Kuhl and Ann Skufca added nine apiece. Top rebounders for the Chippewas were Casey Manning and Hatfield with six each.
BGSU's senior guards, Lindsay Austin and Stefanie Wenzel, paced the visitors with 17 and 13 points, respectively.
The Chippewas return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, when they play at the University of Akron. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
