MOUNT PLEASANT - DePaul's Lea Hill spoiled Tony DiTucci's first game as head soccer coach, scoring two goals and notching an assist to help the Blue Demons defeat Central Michigan University, 3-0.
DePaul goalkeeper Lindsey Deason made 11 saves to earn the shut out.
The Blue Demons got on the board first with a goal by Lea Hill in the 39th minute. Hill out ran a CMU defender to reach a long pass from Jennifer Dyer and beat CMU goalkeeper Anne Decker (Troy/So.) to the low, left side. Dyer got the assist.
DePaul secured the victory with a pair of second-half goals that were three minutes apart. Jennifer Dyer scored in the 66th minute off a cross from Julianne Sitch that was deflected to Dyer from Hill. Sitch and Hill got the assists. Hill then added her second goal in the 69th minute with assists going to Sitch and Erin Walters.
Decker made 10 saves in the loss.
In the first match of the day, Ball State shut out Detroit, 1-0. Amy Holst scored the Cardinals lone goal of the match in the 66th minute with Laura Bandy assisting. BSU keeper Alison Becker made nine saves to earn the shut out win.
The CMU Invitational continues on Sunday, August 29. In the first match of the day Ball State will take on DePaul at noon with CMU playing Detroit at 2 p.m.
