ANN ARBOR - The Central Michigan University field hockey team dropped its second match of the weekend with a 6-1 loss to eighth-ranked Northeastern on Saturday.
The Chippewas fall to 2-2 on the season while Northeastern moves to 7-1. The match was played at the University of Michigan where CMU met the Wolverines on Friday.
Northeastern jumped out to a 2-0 lead before CMU's Erica Takach notched her fourth goal of the season to pull the squad within one. The goal came in the 17th minute and was assisted by Erin Dottery. Unfortunately for CMU, that was its only goal of the contest as the Wolves tacked on four more tallies to secure the victory.
True freshman Sarah Mancuso got her first career start as a Chippewa, making 11 saves in the loss.
CMU begins to conference schedule next weekend as it hosts two Mid-American Conference squads next weekend. The matches will be played in East Lansing at Michigan State because CMU's new field will not be ready in time. The Chippewas play Miami on Friday at 3 p.m., and battle Louisville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
