KENT, Ohio -- Kent State University junior Brittney Robinson tossed her third no-hitter of the season as the Golden Flashes picked up an 11-0 win over Central Michigan University on Saturday afternoon at Kent State Field.
Robinson struck out 10 of the 16 batters she faced in the five innings but she walked one to ruin the perfect game.
CMU falls to 11-18 overall, 2-3 in the Mid-American Conference while KSU is now 13-18 overall, 3-3 in the MAC. The two teams will play a single game again on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
While the Chippewa offense was shut down, the Golden Flashes jumped out of the gates with a seven-run first inning before adding one run in the third and another three in the fourth.
Freshman starter Christa Delamater, who notched a win over Detroit on Tuesday, took the loss after getting chased in the first inning.
Sht got the first KSU batter to ground out, but then gave up four hits and a walk which led to four Golden Flash runs.
Ali Pettit came on in relief and she surrendered seven hits and six runs (four earned) over the final three and two thirds.
CMU had four fielding errors in the contest and KSU finished with 11 hits (10 singles and a double).
