MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan senior Crystal Bradford was named the collegesportsmadness.com women's basketball High-Major Player of the Year.
Bradford, the reigning Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, was also named to the website's High-Major Preseason All-American First Team.
Bradford, a 6-foot guard, last season earned MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. She enters the 2014-15 season second in CMU history with 1,574 points. She is also second in career blocked shots (155) and field goals (636), fourth in steals (223), and fifth in rebounds (950).
She scored a school-record 588 points last season in leading the Chippewas to a 20-12 finish, the MAC West title, and a berth in the Women's NIT.
Bradford was also named the website's MAC Preseason Player of the Year while CMU coach Sue Guevara was named its Preseason Coach of the Year.
Guevara, who is entering her eighth year at CMU, is 117-105 in charge of the Chippewa program, including 81-50 over the past four seasons. She has led CMU to the MAC Tournament championship game twice in the last three years, winning the title in 2013.
Guevara has also led CMU to four consecutive post-season tournament appearances, including a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 2013. It was CMU's first trip to the Big Dance since 1984.
CMU's Jas'Mine Bracey, a 6-2 senior, was named to the MAC Second Team after averaging 10.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game a year ago. She ranked second in the MAC and 45th nationally with 14 double-doubles and was one of just two players in the league to average a double-double. She ranked second in the MAC in shooting percentage (54.3 percent).
Bracey hauled down 338 boards during the 2013-14 season, the fourth-highest total in Chippewa history.
CMU opens the 2014-15 season at home on Nov. 16 against UMass.
