No. 17 Chippewas Headline 5-Team Field at Rutgers

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Central Michigan University gymnastics team will compete along with four other teams on Sunday at Rutgers University’s Livingston Gym.
The 17th-ranked Chippewas, who are 11-2 on the season, will join the host Scarlet Knights along with Towson, Southern Connecticut and Yale. The meet gets under way at 1 p.m.
CMU is the highest-ranked team in the field. Rutgers is a perfect 11-0 and ranked 32nd. None of the other three teams in the field is ranked in the top 50.
Rutgers’ top score this season, 195.275, came in a victory over Ohio State. CMU’s season-high, 196.425, came in a meet with Illinoi and Ohio State. It was the sixth-best point total in Chippewa history.
CMU is coming off a 194.675-194.050 victory over Northern Illinois. The Chippewas were ranked 16th headed into that event, but slipped to 17th in the the latest poll.
CMU ranks 10th on floor, 15th on beam, 18th on bars and 19th on vault. The Chippewas are the highest-ranked MAC team in all four categories. Among MAC gymnasts, CMU’s Taylor Noonan (beam), Kirsten Petzold (vault), Halle Moraw (floor) and Kylie Fagan (bars) are ranked No. 1.
The Chippewas entertain MAC foe Western Michigan on Saturday, March 15, in their home finale, then close the regular season on Saturday, March 22, with the MAC Championships at Eastern Michigan.
