MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan senior Halle Moraw was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week after leading the Chippewa gymnastics team to a victory over Bowling Green in its home finale on Sunday.
Moraw, an Early Childhood Development and Learning major who carries a 3.48 grade point average, took three individual first places as CMU posted a 196.125-192.700 victory at McGuirk Arena over the Falcons.
Moraw won the vault, beam and floor exercise, tying her career-best score on both (9.875) and on beam (9.900). Her winning score on floor exercise was 9.900, marking the fifth time this season she has posted that score in the event.
Moraw ranks fourth on vault, fifth on beam, and second on floor in the Mid-American Conference and has earned the league's gymnast of the week honor four times this season.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
CMU, which is 8-3 in dual meets including 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference, will participate in a quad-meet on Friday at California-Davis along with Iowa and Sacramento State.
