TORONTO - The Central Michigan women's basketball team concluded its Canadian exhibition series Monday with a 91-78 win over Ryerson University.
"I thought today, we grew up as a team," Coach Sue Guevara said. "We played a very experienced Ryerson team that brought back their three leading scorers and had a nice sized player inside. I just really appreciate the way our players stepped up to the challenge we put in front of them today."
Freshman Presley Hudson led the Chippewas yet again, scoring a game-high 29 points and dishing out seven assists. Hudson made seven triples, going 50 percent from the floor (10-of-20).
During the three-game series Hudson averaged 21 points.
Fellow point guard Da'Jourie Turner added 16 points for the Chippewas.
"I thought our guard play of Da'Jourie Turner and Presley Hudson, between the two of them, handled the physicality and pressure that their guards put on, especially in the half court," Guevara said.
The Chippewas held Ryerson to just 1-of-9 from 3-point range in the second half, as CMU nearly shot 50 percent from downtown (8-of-17).
Tinara Moore and Reyna Frost battled hard on the boards, pulling down 14 and 12 respectively. Moore also added nine points, four blocks and two steals. Frost also chipped in eight points.
"You see how hard Tinara Moore has been working, she did a really nice job on the boards for us today and she was a difference maker defensively," Guevara said.
The Chippewas end their Canadian summer tour a perfect 3-0.
"Today was just icing on the cake for us," Guevara said. "To be able to leave here 3-0 is a huge confidence builder for us."
