Gymnastics Trio Earn All-MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - A trio of Central Michigan gymnasts have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference second team.
Senior Taylor Bolender, sophomore Katy Clements and freshman Kasey Janowicz earn the honor. This is the second-straight year Bolender has received this award while Clements and Janowicz are first time honorees.
Bolender is tied for second in the MAC in regional qualifying score (RQS) on floor with a 9.880. She is also ranked top 10 in the region and won the event seven times this year. Her high score of 9.925 is tied for the third highest in the conference this year.
Clements shares the MAC's second-highest RQS on beam (9.850). She finished first on the event five times this season and scored a 9.8 or better on eight of 10 routines. Her season-high score of 9.925 is tied for second in the MAC and she is tied for 14th in the region in RQS.
Janowicz has had a spectacular freshman season and earned this honor because she ranks third in the conference on vault RQS (9.830). She also finished top three on vault in eight of nine meets, winning four times. Janowicz finished first in the all-around in every meet she competed in all fours events this season, winning nine times. She took first 18 times and tallied a top three finish 28 times.
The Chippewas travel to Muncie, Ind., this weekend for the MAC Championships. The meet is on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m.
