MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped its fifth consecutive game on Sunday, falling to Indiana, 6-1, in a non-conference game at the Central Michigan Field Hockey Complex.
The Hoosiers (6-4 overall, 1-1 Big Ten) scored four goals in the first half and finished with a 23-12 advantage in shots.
Emily Barber deflected a shot into the back of the net off a penalty corner for the Chippewas' lone goal. Senior Maude Stalars was credited with the assist.
"It was a beautiful goal, we worked on it all week in practice," CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "To (Barber's) credit, that was something we've been working on, she executed today in the game, and Maude has been stellar for us. We have the pieces, we just have to come together."
Central (1-8) finished with a 5-4 edge in corners. The Chippewas entered the game allowing an average of 12 per game.
The Chippewas will play their second Mid-American Conference at Ohio (2-6) on Friday, Sept. 30 (5 p.m.).
