
Chippewas Look to Rebound at Metroplex

• The CMU gymnastics team will compete against Bowling Green, George Washington and San Jose State in the annual Metroplex Challnege.
• The Chippewas are coming off a 195.925-194.650 Mid-American Conference home loss to Eastern Michigan.
• CMU is 3-1 and ranked 37th; George Washington is 5-0 and ranked 18th; Bowling Green is 1-5 and ranked 52nd; San Jose State is 0-8 and ranked 47th.
• Nationally, the Chippewas are ranked 18th on floor exercise, tied for 40th on balance beam, tied for 41st on parallel bars, and 50th on vault.
• George Washington is ranked tied for sixth on beam and in the top 20 in vault and floor. Bowling Green's best ranking is in vault, where it is 27th. San Jose State's best ranking is 34th. The Spartans are 34th on both vault and floor.
• While the Chippewas lost the meet last week to Eastern, they finished strong, taking the final event, the floor exercise, with a 49.250 - their best score in any of the four disciplines this season.
• CMU's Denelle Pedrick won the vault, Gianna Plaksa won the all-around, and Katy Clements and Macey Hilliker shared the top spot on floor in the Chippewas' meet with Eastern.
Up next: The Chippewas entertain Illinois State in a non-league dual on Sunday, Feb. 5 (1 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena.
