Chippewa Women Close Home Stand With Friday Matinee

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan women's basketball team will close its season-opening three-game home stand on Friday (noon) at McGuirk Arena with a nonconference game against College of Charleston.
HOOPS FOR HUNGER
Fans bringing a non-perishable food item will be admitted free of charge. Donations may be dropped off in the atrium outside of McGuirk Arena.
OPENING WEEK
The game closes a big opening week for the Chippewas, who dropped a 79-68 decision to Purdue one week ago in their season opener, and then rebounded with a 92-75 victory over Vanderbilt on Tuesday.
MILESTONE WIN
CMU coach Sue Guevara logged her 300th career win in the victory over Vanderbilt. Guevara is 177-143 in her 10-plus years as the Chippewas' coach. She went 123-82 during a seven-year reign at Michigan.
BIG NIGHT
• Senior guard Cassie Breen led CMU with 31 points -- two shy of her career-high - against the Commodores. She made seven of her 14 3-point field goal attempts and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
• Presley Hudson, a junior guard, recorded 21 points for Central Michigan and Tinara Moore added 18.
• CMU went 24-of-25 from the free throw line against Vanderbilt.
SCOUTING
• College of Charleston is 1-1 after dropping a 72-58 decision to Furman on Sunday. The Cougars opened their season with an 85-69 win over Lipscomb.
• Tanisha Brown leads the Cougars in scoring with 19.5 points per game. Darlen Huff and Schiclasia Brown average 16.5 per game.
NEXT
Central Michigan will head south to the Bahamas for the Nov. 24-25 Junkanoo Jam. The Chippewas will open the event with a game against San Diego State and will take on either Iowa State or Tulsa in their second game.
